Professor S. Mohana worked as a Zoology professor for 38 years at the Palani Andavar Men's College and has officiated as Principal-In-Charge. She was elected twice as the President of the Tamil Nadu Science Forum. She has penned books on astronomy, zoology, science, history, social justice, and feminism. She has received the Tamil Nadu Kalai Ilakkiya Perumandram Award for Science propaganda and many other awards.
